Dylan McMahon is on a football Sports Scholarship at DBS and is in his final year studying the BA (Hons) in Marketing (Digital Media and Cloud Computing). He told us what he enjoys most about his course and his sport.
Tell us about yourself?
My name is Dylan McMahon, I'm 22 years of age and from Dublin, Ireland. I am currently in my final year, studying Digital Marketing.
Why did you choose your programme?
I chose Digital Marketing at DBS as the course content was of a high quality and covered all the aspects of marketing I wanted to learn. DBS is based in the city centre which is ideal for me. Easy access and a central location are advantageous factors for the college.
What is your favourite subject and why?
My favourite subject is definitely Cloud Computing. I love it because we learn about data analytics, cloud systems and how to capitalise on online opportunities for advertising. The content appeals to me, and the lecturer makes it very enjoyable with his incredible enthusiasm and knowledge.
What are your career aspirations after your programme?
I would like to pursue a career in online advertising. My plan is to join an established marketing agency in Dublin, and gain as much experience there as I can.
Tell us about your sport?
Football is an incredible sport that requires team work, co-operation, hard work, dedication and skill. I have been obsessed with football for as long as I can remember and have played competitively since the age of 7. I have always supported Liverpool and have gone to many matches at Anfield, and I have seen Ireland play numerous times. It has always been a part of my life and it will continue to do so for as long as I live.
What has it been like playing sport at DBS?
Playing football in DBS and representing the college successfully has been a tremendous experience personally. Being given the opportunity to represent the college on a national stage is a pleasure, and it has been made all the more worthwhile by winning trophies over the last two years. The support behind the scenes is second to none and really has affected my college experience so positively.
What is your best memory of DBS so far?
With so many amazing memories to take from my time at DBS it's hard to pick one but winning back to back trophies in football for DBS is a highlight I shall never forget. To be able to mark history within the college is a tremendous achievement and one I am proud to have been a part of.
